HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE UCLA CENTER FOR COMMUNITY LEARNING!

The UCLA Center for Community Learning continues to promote civic engagement through courses and programs that integrate teaching, research and service with community partners throughout Los Angeles.

2011 highlights include:


  • Supervising and mentoring hundreds of students in 195CE Internship Courses, enrolled in six different academic departments.

  • Collaborating with faculty from a variety of disciplines to offer Service Learning Courses.

  • Guiding over 50 students pursuing minors in Civic Engagement and Disability Studies through long-term community-based internships and capstone research projects.

  • Providing scholarships for hundreds of students who complete a one-year term of service in our three AmeriCorps Programs--Jumpstart, JusticeCorps, and Students in Service.

  • Supporting the community-based research and service of undergraduate Astin Civic Engagement Scholars and Fellows, who complete two or three quarter projects with community partners and faculty mentors.
